Lighthouse Programme, last 3 Deep Dive Weeks

1.  Startup Lighthouse Deep Dive Week Lisbon

15 startups descended on Lisbon from the 13th to the 18 thof May for a Deep Dive Week focused on Smart Cities. Representing 11 countries, the startups met with investors, corporates, incubators,
coworking spaces, had a pitching workshop and pitched twice. Companies present were helping to monitor air quality, make solar energy more available, allowing customers to choose from where
their energy was derived amongst others. The two Irish companies present were Péarlaí and ThinkSmarter, two companies tackling the footfall and demographic insight space from two different angles.

2. Startup Lighthouse Deep Dive Week Berlin 

Deep Dive Week Future Mobility took place in Berlin May 20th to 23nd, one of Europe’s biggest startup ecosystems. The startups met the main players of the German mobility ecosystem, validating their technology and business solutions with corporate partners and generating leads from the major industry companies. Ireland was represented by – a tool to conduct surveys focused on a map and is geared for fast responses and the data can be licensed flexibly.
Over the past few years, over 50 corporate accelerators and other special programmes, such as Lufthansa, Deutsche Bahn, Volkswagen, Daimler, E.ON and Bosch have moved their innovation hubs to Berlin and stimulate innovation in the mobility sector.

3. Startup Lighthouse Deep Dive Week Baltics

The final Deep Dive Week Baltics took place last week from the 25th to the 31st of May in Vilnius, Lithuania for a low level exploration of the local fintech landscape. Exploring this rapidly growing ecosystem were 19 companies from 9 different countries, Ireland was represented by 4Securitas and NAVchain. Highlights of the week included meeting the Bank of Lithuania, SEB Group and a talk from Elijus Čivilis, the Lithuanian Vice-Minister for Economy and Innovation.  From the Ryan Academy’s perspective, a final group discussion with different ecosystem builders from around Europe was particularly insightful.
